Centra Lynchburg General Hospital officially broke ground Thursday on a $140 million hospital tower.  It marks the largest healthcare construction project in Centra Health’s nearly 40-year history. The six-story tower expansion is a part of Centra’s long-term Modernization Plan.

Funded through a state grant, this effort will lay over 100 miles of new fiber and bring lasting connectivity to residents in White Gate, Staffordsville, Poplar Hill, Wilburn Valley, and Walker Creek.

The Bedford Humane Society celebrated the groundbreaking of its new adoption center on Sunday.

Less than one year after the groundbreaking, the Market on Melrose opened on Nov. 13, after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

Construction is expected to start within the next few months and be finished in early 2023.
