The Virginia legislators who have been leading negotiations over the months-delayed state budget say they have reached agreement on the “major components” of a compromise.

Bevin had the strong backing of the President, and Trump held a rally in Lexington, Kentucky, the night before the election. Beshear was elected attorney general of Kentucky in 2015, and is the son of Steve Beshear, Bevin's predecessor.
