BEDFORD, Va. โ€“ Bedford officials are hosting a virtual town hall Tuesday to discuss the future of a busy and dangerous roadway. Theyโ€™re talking about the intersection of Longwood Avenue (Route 122) and Independence Boulevard (U.S. Highway 221). Bedford officials are partnering with the Central Virginia Planning District Commission to hear the results of a study conducted in that area over the past year. Then thereโ€™s always the alternative to do nothing,โ€ explained Mary Zirkle, the economic development coordinator for the town of Bedford. CVPDC said since 2015, there have been at least 35 crashes at or near the intersection, six of which caused injuries.

BEDFORD, Va. - Next time youre near the municipal building in the Town of Bedford, you may see some pink water gushing from the fountain. It's the first time public works officials have dyed the water pink. During the whole month of October, town leaders are encouraging people to stop by and drop some change into the fountain. Town leaders say the money collected will be donated to a breast cancer foundation. Town officials say they ordered the pink dye from a company they get their chemicals from.
