Stephen James named 2024 WSLS 1st and 10 Coach of the Year.

Grayson County faced off against Essex at the Salem Stadium Saturday morning!

After dealing with injuries and a hurricane, in a Cinderella-like story, Grayson County’s football team has taken those hardships and used it as fuel for success and are headed to their first state title.

"It's a great group of kids they come in and work every day and you know they've been on a mission," said coach James.

A “1st and 10″ Friday night, and a Mountain Empire collision has our attention for the Game of the Week.

James most recently led Pulaski County from 2014-2019.

A changing of the guard is in the works at Pulaski County as coach Stephen James has resigned his post as the Cougars head football coach after six seasons. The team went 43-20 with five playoff berths during James tenure. In Salem Berlyn Seitz is the new varsity head girls basketball coach. She comes to the Spartans from Franklin County where she served as a varsity assistant. The Bridgewater College grad has also been a varsity assistant at Liberty High School in Bedford.

PULASKI, Va. - The Pulaski Cougars are certainly a team to watch in 2019. "Embrace the grind with a smile on your face," safety Chris Shay said with a smile. The grind includes early morning workouts, long sessions in the weight room and of course, wins and losses. "We know we can beat them because we're going to be a really good team this year.
