The Southwest Virginia Plane Pull is introducing the Kids Plane Pull for the first time, giving children a chance to join the fun and support Special Olympics Virginia.

A new partnership with Roanoke Catholic will allow students to explore a career in aviation before even graduating high school.

ROANOKE, Va. – Two people were hurt during a plane’s landing at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport on Friday afternoon, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. At about 1:10 p.m., a Diamond DA20 aircraft had a hard landing on one of the runways and it eventually came to rest in a grass safety area. Star Flight Training announced that one of their flight school aircraft was involved in an accident on Thursday. They said there were no “significant” injuries and that both occupants were doing fine. While initially closed, the runway has since reopened and the airport is operational.
