BLACKSBURG, Va. – A new “ghost kitchen” will open in Blacksburg to serve up hot meals and build back revenue after getting hit by the coronavirus pandemic. “We thought what can we do that wouldn’t have a big increase in capital and we wouldn’t have to buy a new restaurant,” Thompson said. “So we thought a ghost kitchen.”Thompson and Mullens will make soups and sandwiches in their restaurant’s kitchen but only offer curbside pickup or delivery. “We thought with the cold season coming around, selling soup would be one of our best options,” Mullens said. To support their neighbors, the owners also partnered with Blacksburg Bagels for their variety of bread.

In downtown Blacksburg, a crowd decided to support local businesses Saturday by heading to the farmer’s market. BLACKSBURG, Va. – Finding a bagel place can be a tough task in our area. Finding people who are willing to lend a helping hand right now is not. Luckily, we found both at Blacksburg Bagels . Macedo tells us that, “Everything we do is from scratch.”This includes, “Sandwich breads, sourdoughs, burger buns, croissants, pitas, pizza dough, gluten free pizza dough, crackers.”The croissants alone take four days to make! As if that wasn’t enough, Macedo and the gang still find the time in their busy schedule to give back.
