ROANOKE, Va. - 50 years later, Camille is still remembered as one of the worst, if not the worst, storms to impact any part of our area. That's about as much rain as we've seen in all of 2019 so far. If half of what fell over Massies Mill fell over the Roanoke Valley, the Roanoke River would rise to about 40 feet. Camille is still the flood of record for the Maury River in Buena Vista, though. ROANOKE, Va. - The first day of school is Wednesday, August 7 for many districts including Appomottox, Carroll, Grayson, and Nelson counties and Martinsville city. Virginia changed the age for getting a Tdap booster shot. To align with current ACIP recommendations, the 2019 General Assembly passed HB 2215 that changes the grade in which students receive Tdap vaccine from sixth to seventh grade. Students who received a Tdap immunization at age ten will not need another Tdap vaccine to enter seventh grade. He says establishing a routine is important and you should start a week or two before school starts.

About 1,000 homeowners at Wintergreen resort said they will sue the Atlantic Coast Pipeline if it begins work without compensation on land they communally own. Right now, plans from the Atlantic Coast Pipeline have it going through Wintergreen mountain and across Fenton's property. Dominion Energy is one of the partner companies of Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC. "Once that happens then that's the last road block for Dominion and they can start work," said John Clayman with the Wintergreen Property Owners Association. 10 News reached out to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline media contact, but did not receive an immediate response to our inquiry.
