Thanks to the success of the “Load the Bus” event, free school supplies were available for dozens of families who may not have been able to buy them otherwise.

Several students from Roanoke County Public Schools are being praised for teaming up to raise money for school supplies for kids in need.
The ‘Load the Bus’ initiative kicks off this Friday, an opportunity for you to help make sure students have the supplies they need to start the school year with success.
Back-to-school season is just around the corner, and local school divisions are once again teaming up with Walmart to help students start the year off strong. The “Load the Bus” school supply drive returns August 1st through 3rd.
For some school districts, in 10 days students will be stepping into a new school year. This past weekend people donated school supplies of all kinds to the Load the Bus event to help students in need kickstart their year.
Supplies collected during the Load the Bus event in Roanoke will soon be distributed to families in need.
On Monday, the Roanoke County Public Schools announced that this year’s Load the Bus event is in full swing and will be held until August 7, the last day of Virginia’s Tax-Free Weekend.
