Mackenzie Rose, a survivor of a violent attack by her fiancé, channels her trauma into art and poetry, sharing her journey of healing and resilience to inspire and support other survivors.

The Roanoke community had the chance to “walk in their shoes” on Friday to honor survivors and victims of domestic violence.

Friday, people in Roanoke had the opportunity to take a walk in other’s shoes by participating in the Domestic Violence Awareness Month hosted by the Roanoke Valley Violence Prevention Coalition.

ROANOKE, Va. – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All year long, Domestic Abuse Disruption, also known as D.A.D., is a non-profit that offers free services to help out with things some people don’t realize domestic violence or stalking survivors may need. The class covers how to use situational awareness and your instincts to minimize the problem to go seek help.
