A battle of two 4-1 programs as the Nelson County Governors faced off against the Gretna Hawks on Friday night. The Hawks got the best of the Governors in last year’s matchup and are only continuing to improve under 5th-year coach Shaun Miller.

Altavista put together a strong non-district schedule to prepare for a potentially deep run this year. The Dogwood District team has rattled off three straight wins as of late, including back-to-back wins in its respective district. However, Chatham is trying to get back on track after coming across its third loss of the season.

Heritage had a tough start on the road in West Virginia but got a chance to bounce back with a matchup against Appomattox County.

The Brookville Bees buzzed past the Appomattox Raiders in a close home game, winning by 3 points in a 20-17 game.

Gretna wins in their second round of playoffs, defeating Radford in a 14-7 game.

The Buffaloes claimed victory over the Raider Friday night, 20-15.

Back-and-forth it went, before Glenvar pulled away with the win, 38-34.

In only their fourth meeting ever in the Region 2C final, Appomattox beat Glenvar 38-34 to win the title. It was defensive plays in the end that sent the Raiders to victory.

It was back and forth for most of the night, but Appomattox came out on top, 38-33.

Chatham fell to Appomattox 35-19.

Martinsville remains undefeated so far in the 2022 season. They took down Chatham 19-9.

Appomattox had a brutal early schedule, and on Monday, they were looking to get things cranked into gear for the district match.

Rolling in with score after score, and with a defense that held up, LB won 35-3.

The game’s final score was 50-27, Martinsville.

LYNCHBURG, Va. After the success of the Ronnie Roberts Classic, the Lynchburg Hillcats decided to host another special baseball game at Bank of James Stadium, this time to honor the seniors from the Dogwood District. More than 20 players came together two make up two teams. The Blue team consisted of players from Appomattox, Dan River, and William Campbell High Schools. The Grey team consisted of players from Altavista and Gretna High Schools. Sunday nights game had a great display of defensive play and big bats, as the Blue team scored in the final 4 innings to secure a 14-2 victory.

APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. – Appomattox County defended home field Friday night, beating Dogwood District rival Gretna 35-14 to advance to the state semifinal. Appomattox County was state champion in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Raiders will host the winner of the Central-Wise/Graham game on Saturday.
