The Dirty Dancing Summer Days Festival at Mountain Lake Lodge is open to the public and a unique opportunity for Dirty Dancing fans to visit for the day to go back to where the magic began.

The award-winning resort located in Giles County has announced its popular “Dirty Dancing Weekends” schedule for 2026, along with “Dirty Dancing Days Summer Festival,” a unique opportunity for those within driving distance.

25 films have been selected for the Library of Congress National Film Registry, including one filmed in our area – Dirty Dancing.

The Magical Christmas Village & Marketplace opens Saturday, November 23rd at Mountain Lake Lodge. Kicking off the event with its grand illumination at 6pm, the lodge and property will be decked out in holiday lights. Visitors from the community and hotel guests are invited on property to see the sparkling holiday lights, shop at the marketplace and see 2024′s new attractions like Marshmallow Way, the Pinecone Express, and the Holiday Mainstage.

However, about 12 years ago, the lake dried up completely. This summer, Mountain Lake is coming back to life and has risen to about one-third full. Mountain Lake in Giles County is about one-third full and seems to be holding its water levels. “Mountain Lake has been doing great for several years.”With or without the lake, guests said they still plan to return.

But the real Swayze will soon be seen in "I Am Patrick Swayze," a new documentary about his life made by the late actor's wife, Lisa Niemi. Niemi discussed Swayze's career and his 2009 death at the age of 57 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. "It's the worst thing in the world to go through," Niemi said of Swayze's cancer fight. "The first time Buddy (her nickname for Swayze) and I danced together was at a school exhibition," Niemi said.
