Callers will receive an email that will allow them to complete the necessary information and make an appointment to receive their vaccination. Five-year-old Caleb O’Brien raised $652.45 to buy 84 toys for underprivileged children. It’s an idea he got last year from watching bell ringers collect money. With fewer bell ringers around due to the pandemic this year, Caleb quickly got his Santa hat, bell and piggy bank to step right in. APPOMATTOX, Va. – Two men have been charged with murder in connection to human remains that were found in a burned-out SUV, according to the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say Enrico Moss, 29, of Appomattox, has been charged with the first-degree murder of Carlos Rose. According to the sheriff’s office, Green was the man with the Bugs Bunny hat in the photos authorities released on Oct. 27. The sheriff’s office released a photo of someone in a surgical mask, who they are still working to identify and locate. Anyone with information on Green’s location is asked to call the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office at 434-352-8241.

APPOMATTOX, Va. School hasnt even started yet, but 11 teachers have already called out in Appomattox County in relation to COVID-19. For one reason or another, whether they have symptoms themselves or theyre living with someone with symptoms, Bennett said. The school district isnt equipped right now to bring in substitutes, so they need staff to be healthy. The number of teachers calling out isnt the only reason why school wont start in person on Aug. 24. Appomattox students will start their hybrid and in person learning on Sept. 14th.

Horizon Behavioral Health and the Sheriff’s Office installed the $2,000 drug box. Horizon’s Behavioral Health and the Appomattox Sheriff’s Office installed a $2,000 drug box in the office. Sheriff Donald Simpson said taking prescription drugs, twice a year, on National Take Drugs Back Day was not enough as there have been plenty of people wanting to drop off expired pills at other times. After the success of the Ronnie Roberts Classic, the Lynchburg Hillcats decided to host another special baseball game at Bank of James Stadium, this time to honor the seniors from the Dogwood District. More than 20 players came together two make up two teams. The Blue team consisted of players from Appomattox, Dan River, and William Campbell High Schools. The Grey team consisted of players from Altavista and Gretna High Schools. Sunday nights game had a great display of defensive play and big bats, as the Blue team scored in the final 4 innings to secure a 14-2 victory.

APPOMATTOX, Va. Hard rock and heavy metal fans have begun to look forward to Blue Ridge Rock Festival in recent years. The CEO of the festival, Jon Slye, announced on Facebook Live Tuesday night that the 2020 festival will be postponed until September 9-12, 2021. Slye says that the hope is to bring back a lot of the favorite acts, some of which had already been booked for the 2020 festival. Some more popular acts such as Bad Wolves, Beartooth, Black Label Society and All That Remains (just to name a few) were already booked. Theres no official word yet on if these bands will be at the 2021 festival, though.

Appomattox, Carroll, Charlotte, Patrick, and Pittsylvania counties have already declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, which will oppose gun control measures; Franklin and Pulaski counties are considering making the same declaration. However, University of Virginia Professor Rich Schragger, who specializes in constitutional law, said some gun control measures are constitutional, which means the Second Amendment sanctuaries would likely not be able to block them. Mostly, declaring yourself a Second Amendment sanctuary is more of a symbolic statement.”Schragger said the wave of new Second Amendment sanctuaries also signifies more rural communities’ efforts to have their concerns heard at the State Capitol. "It’s similar to when urban communities have made statements in the other direction for gun control.
