A Covington man was sentenced to life plus 40 years in prison, to be suspended after he serves an active sentence of 35 years for carjacking, rape and abduction with intent to defile, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Alleghany County.
The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Cal Lee Davis Jr and his 5-year-old daughter, Peyton Marie Knight.
An 11-year-old girl from Bedford County was reportedly abducted after communicating with a Florida man through an online game, authorities say.
A former Virginia State trooper, 28-year-old Austin Edwards, reportedly traveled across the country to meet a teen he met online. He abducted her and killed her family. Edwards was killed in a shootout with police and the teen is now safe, but California police believe she met him online, where he pretended to be younger than his age.

Patricia Ripley, 45, had claimed she was driving with her son Alejandro around 9 p.m. Ripley told police that one of the men got out and demanded drugs, according to officials. ET, Rundle told reporters. But just an hour later, Ripley allegedly brought Alejandro to a different canal. She faces charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and premeditated murder, Rundle said.
