Virginia State Police investigating two separate fatal crashes in Pittsylvania County

The crash occurred on Friday night on Route 29

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating two separate fatal crashes in Pittsylvania County.

The first crash happened Friday, Oct. 3, around 11 p.m. on Route 29, just north of Route 1032. State troopers said 42-year-old Bryson Everett Miller, of Java, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet northbound when he crossed the median and crashed into the southbound lanes. Miller was taken to the Blairs Fire and Rescue Helipad, but died before the helicopter arrived. The crash remains under investigation.

The second crash occurred Sunday, Oct. 5, shortly before 7 p.m. on Route 686. Authorities said a 2003 Ford Escape was traveling south on Route 686 when it ran off the left side of the roadway, hit a ditch, overturned, and struck a home. The driver, 65-year-old Ora Pannell Slade of Gretna, died at the scene, Virginia State Police said. No one at the residence was injured. This crash also remains under investigation.
