Former William Byrd star Kassie Brammer is organizing the event, which will be held at the Burton softball fields. VINTON, Va.- - Every Friday night a piece of paper is taped into the locker of every William Byrd football player, listing a fallen soldier, their history, along with a quote. "It's also a great opportunity as a coach to teach these kids really what life is about, and that's what coaching is about. It's been a great opportunity for me," Lutz said. "Clarence (Adams) and I were high school teammates and anyone who has played the game of football, especially at the high school level, you get the bond," Lutz said. ROANOKE, Va. - Patrick Henry had never played William Byrd before, and senior all-purpose athlete Jalen Cook made sure he left a lasting first impression. Cook is normally a workhorse running back and return specialist. Cook returned an interception 99 yards for a score, and also turned in an 88 yard kickoff return for touchdown in the Patrick Henry win over the Terriers.
