On Monday, a Cheddarโ€™s employee informed his or her boss that he or she had tested positive for COVID-19, according to Rich Jeffers, a company spokesman. This employee, who does not interact with guests, last worked on June 26 and at the time did not display any symptoms. Once Cheddarโ€™s learned about the diagnosis, Jeffers said the restaurant was sanitized using CDC-approved disinfectant. This employee will not be permitted to return to work until he or she has a written medical release or meets requirements to return to work per CDC guidelines.

ROANOKE, Va. - The Fill the Boot campaign benefiting people living with muscular dystrophy in Roanoke is a family affair for some and personal for others. Local firefighters and other volunteers were out at Valley View Mall on Saturday, braving the heat, to collect donations on a busy shopping day. "The Muscular Dystrophy Association does great work. He met Roanoke firefighters at a camp years ago. The firefighters and volunteers will be back out taking donations Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Valley View Mall.

ROANOKE, Va. - UPDATEAppalachian Power reports Sunday's outage is due to a failure of the main transformer with the substation that powers the area around Valley View. Power is estimated to be restored around 11 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Appalachian Power website. Power outages are being reported in Roanoke on Sunday. Appalachian Power says there are 1,904 outages in Roanoke. The Valley View Mall and areas surrounding have lost power, as well.
