It’s Friday night, and the game of the week takes us to Floyd County, where the Buffaloes face the Carroll County Cavaliers.

In a Three Rivers showdown, the Carroll County Cavaliers and the Glenvar Highlanders met on the field for the eighth time.

Grayson County and Carroll County faced off in a highly anticipated game.

The two-day event wrapped up Saturday with 7 games played at Salem High School.

Glenvar wins this one, 49-7.

Grayson County rallied from 7-6 down for a hard-fought 12-7 win over the Cavaliers of Carroll Co. in Thursday night action.

Cavaliers take down Brentsville District 78-41.

The defending Class 3 state champions defeated LCA 65-31.

The Lady Cavs returned all 5 starters from its state championship team.

Our Camp Tour rolls on to Hillsville, where Monty Chipman is getting his team ready for the fall season. Carroll County shocked a lot of people in their 2021 spring season, Chipman advancing the Cavs to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.

The Carroll County girls and Cave Spring boys completed state title seasons with wins at the Siegel Center on the Campus of VCU.

Carroll County girls also advanced to the Class 3 Championship.

Eight local squads had advanced to state semifinal action.

The Lady Cavs enter the Class 3 Quarterfinals with one lone loss this season.

The Titans sweep the Carroll Co. Cavaliers in 3 for the region crown.

James River made the trip south and went home with a victory in this Three Rivers District match-up on Friday night.

Don’t look now, but the Floyd County Buffaloes are now 4-1 on the season.

Coming off a close loss last week against Hidden Valley, Glenvar bounced back on Friday night.

In a back-and-forth game, Grayson County left Carroll County victorious on Friday night.

Morgan Marshall wins the 1st and 10 Josh Leonard Courage and Commitment award. Brady Dalton was the 1st and 10 Player of the week for Week 3.

Hillsville, Va. – Carroll County is off to a 4-0 start and their best season since 2010 and quarterback Brady Dalton is spearheading the Cavaliers offense. The senior signal caller was an accurate 8-10 for 167 yards with touchdown passes of 87 and 8 yards,and he added 99 yards and a rushing touchdown as well. The Cavaliers handled visiting James River in a Three Rivers district matchup 40-0. The Cavs are off to a sizzling start, and for his efforts--Brady Dalton is our WSLS 1st and 10 Player of the week.

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. – The Cavaliers are on a roll and didn’t let the Knights slow them down on Friday night. Carroll County hosted James River and beat the Knights, 40-0.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Rather than play in Giles County, Carroll County made the trip to Blacksburg on Friday night and left with a win over Giles. The Cavaliers beat the Spartans, 42-13.

GALAX, Va. – Monday night’s season opener wasn’t quite a home game for either team. Rather than play at Floyd County, both squads traveled to Galax to play on the turf. After falling into a 14-point hole, the Caroll County Cavaliers would go on to score 20 straight, winning 20-14, and start the season 1-0.

ROANOKE, Va. – It was a busy night in Southwest Virginia with nearly a dozen area teams competing in the VHSL basketball state semifinals. Starting with Class 5 girls action, Patrick Henry dispatched visiting Potomac Falls 61-37 to advance to the program’s first state final. “Very blessed to have the players I have, very lucky to have Savannah Derey here for every game I’ve ever coached,” Hedrick explained. AdIn Pulaski County, the girls basketball Region D champions hosted Loudon Valley, who won the Region C title. In girls Class 2 action, Glenvar had a tall task in trying to topple defending Class 2 Champion Gate City.

HILLSVILLE, Va. – The last time the Carroll County girls basketball team lost a game was around this time last year. “I don’t know that we ever talked about any streaks or anything like that,” head coach Marc Motley said. The team also has never had an undefeated season before, so it could be a year of firsts for the Cavaliers. “I don’t want to get content.”While competing may be missed for awhile, the extra time allows Carroll County to tweak their game plan and get ready for region play. I’m excited to see the crowd and the feeling of playing in regions, I think that’s really exciting.”“Teams are going to watch you on film, we know that,” Motley said.
