BEDFORD, Va. – A crash in Bedford on Tuesday evening left two people with serious, life-threatening injuries. Crews arrived to find an SUV crashed into a tree with two people stuck inside, according to the fire department. BEDFORD, Va. – A car crashed into a Bedford home Saturday afternoon. At about 2:20 p.m., Bedford Communications alerted the Bedford Fire Department for reports of a vehicle trapped in a house at the 1800 block of Centerville Road. Crews arrived at the scene to find the car and worked to remove the doors to free the person inside. The person was transported by medics and officials didn’t say whether they were injured. There was no structural damage to the house, according to the fire department.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – A home in Bedford County caught fire Wednesday morning, displacing four residents, according to the Bedford Fire Department. At about 11:32 a.m., Bedford Fire said units responded to 1090 Hill Road after reports of a porch fire at a residence. Authorities said they arrived at the scene to find heavy fire from a mobile home and storage shed. According to the fire department, the Red Cross is working to provide shelter for the four occupants who have been displaced. The fire is under investigation by the Bedford County Fire Marshals Office.

BEDFORD, Va. – The Bedford Fire Department is investigating an overnight apartment fire on Blue Ridge Avenue. According to Deputy Chief Matt Scott, firefighters arrived on scene around 1:15 a.m. Sunday to heavy smoke coming from a two-story wood frame apartment building. The fire was contained to a bedroom in the building. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to gain control of the fire. Scott estimates the damage to be about $35,000.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. A person is in the hospital after authorities say they crashed into a tree before their car burst into flames. According to the Bedford Fire Department, the accident happened in the 5500 block of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Officers say they told crews that were on the way that there was heavy fire and that the injured driver was out of the car and at a safe distance. Crews say they were able to extinguish the fire by 11:45 p.m. According to the fire department, the driver is being treated at Bedford Memorial.

BEDFORD, Va. According to the Bedford Fire Department, units responded to a car crash with partial ejection near Burks Hill Road. First responders say upon arrival, they found heavy damage and multiple patients. The car reportedly attempted to elude police when it exited the bypass at a high rate of speed and lost control. Officials say one passenger was partially ejected and sent to the hospital in serious conditions, two others were hurt but not seriously injured.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – According to the Bedford Fire Department, a car was trapped after it crashed into a tree around 11 p.m. Saturday along the 8000 block of Big Island Highway in Bedford County. Crews removed the roof of the car to get the person inside of it out. Medics treated the person on scene.
