How to dispose of your Christmas tree in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. – With the holiday season coming to a close, those with Christmas trees are probably going to be getting rid of them soon! For Lynchburg locals, the city has made it easy for you to get rid of your tree soon and safely.

Once you’ve taken the ornaments off your tree, you can place it on the curb on your scheduled brush and bulk collection week. Please also be sure to have your tree out before 7 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week.

  • If your trash is collected on Monday, your collection week is January 6-10
  • If your trash is collected on Tuesday, your collection week is January 13-17
  • If your trash is collected on Wednesday, your collection week is January 20-24
  • If your trash is collected on Thursday, your collection week is January 27-31

If you’d prefer to get rid of your tree on your own time, the following locations are taking tree drop-offs until January 31:

  • City drop-off recycling centers (EXCEPT Village Court Shopping Center - Boonsboro Road & Kroger – Timberlake Road)
  • Miller Park (left side of the parking lot entering from Park Avenue)
  • Riverside Park (back of tennis court parking lot)
  • Peaks View Park (from Wiggington Road, the grassy area between the parking lot and restrooms)
