Foodies, get your β€˜must try’ lists ready! We had more than 60 submissions from viewers, who had a LOT to say about the best spots to grab a hot dog in our region.

Now, without further ado, here are the locally-owned restaurants that racked up the most votesβ€”coming in hot:

Roanoke Weiner Stand

A Star City favorite since 1916, the Roanoke Weiner Stand’s classic chili dogs are a must-try if you haven’t stopped by yet. Serving up nostalgia and plenty of smiles, many say this restaurant has stayed true to its roots.

Roanoke’s Texas Tavern

Located at 114 Church Ave, SW Roanoke, VA 24011

Walking into Texas Tavern is like stepping back in time. Family-owned for more than a century, not much has changed at the classic 1930s 10-stool diner. The local gem is known for its World-Famous Chili, Cheesy Western, and hot dogs, featuring classics from its original 1930s menu.

Bowling’s Place in Rocky Mount

Bowling’s Place first opened its doors in 1950 and has been a hit with community members ever since. People across the Roanoke Valley just can’t get enough of their hot dogs and signature chili.

The Hot Dog House in Covington

Known as one of the longest-running locally owned restaurants in Covington, the Hot Dog House is always ready to serve up its iconic chili dogs with a side of hospitality.

Did you know Wednesday was National Hot Dog Day? Well, now you do, and yes, it seems like there’s a national holiday for just about everything these days. We’re not complaining, though. Any excuse to indulge in some yummy food is always a good one.

Speaking of which, there are a ton of classics in our region to grab a hot dog, whether it’s a local gem, a roadside stand or even a hidden diner.
